Size 9? size 11? size 13?

It’s very frustrating when you go shopping and there is this one item you fall in love with but unfortunately you are not a size 10 and you are not a size 12. You seem to be a size 11 and no-where out there can you get the one thing you want in a size 11!! Rubbish. The best thing to do if you really do fall in love with something is to make a decision, are you going to lose a little weight in the near future and is it stretchy enough if you don’t? Or is it just that little bit loose and will you be able to carefully style it up with a belt or some accessories so it looks right? There’s nothing worse than a too-tight dress so I would always go with the bigger option if you simply have to have it and soon, or if it is a real bargain and you know it’s going to stand the test of time buy the smaller one, you’ll get into it someday I’m sure!

Re-heel your shoes!

When you move house, it is important to register with doctors, dentist, and opticians, and also to find out where the local curry house and chip shop is. You also need to find out where the local shoe repair place is! Seriously, I have now got to a stage where all my party shoes are in desperate need of re-heeling (there are about ten pairs that need doing) and I have nothing to wear. Do not ever think of wearing heels that need fixing, seriously, you will ruin them and have to throw them away. It is awful when you kill your own shoes because you don’t give them the love and repair they deserve.

Properly fitted underwear

There is nothing that spoils a lovely outfit more than badly fitting underwear. Honestly, there are so many people that wear lovely dresses but have a really obvious Visible Panty Lines (VPL’s!) or bras that show too much or are too big and wrinkle under their tops! Seriously ladies, get down to Marks and Spencer of your local independent underwear shop and get measured for some properly fitter underwear. If you can’t afford to buy it from those shops, get the measurements and go to a local high-street shop and try on loads of their bra’s until you find one that fits like the ones you were measured for! Knickers are bad too. You can get those pants that have ruffles on the back but if you‘re wearing a slinky dress, ruffles are not sexy. Pop on a thong or some big smooth pants and you’re good to go!

McQueen

Since the death of Lee Alexander McQueen earlier this week, it seems everyone has cracked out their McQueen clothes and is wearing them as memorials to the great man himself. All over Facebook last night people were joining the groups RIP Alexander McQueen etc and going on about how they are digging out their boots, clothes and accessories. The amount of scull scarves I have seen over the past couple of days in Manchester and in the news is simply baffling. It just goes to show, even when something tragic happens, it’s always good for the press, which promotes awareness of brand and which encourages people to attend to the fashion element and wear the relevant garments. I bet their sales will shoot up and there will be no McQueen garments for a reasonable price on Ebay!

Try before you buy!!

Have you ever found that in different shops you are different sizes?! It’s so frustrating especially when it means it makes it harder to buy gifts for other people! I have noticed that H&M have small sizes and Next and Marks and Spencer usually do large sizes. It is the same for shoes, in some shops a size five fits like a glove, in some you can’t even get your toes into them without feeling like you’ve been crippled! The best advice would be to go and try on every time, never, ever just buy straight from the rack or you’ll be walking straight back into the shop to return the goods!
