Try before you buy!!

Have you ever found that in different shops you are different sizes?! It’s so frustrating especially when it means it makes it harder to buy gifts for other people! I have noticed that H&M have small sizes and Next and Marks and Spencer usually do large sizes. It is the same for shoes, in some shops a size five fits like a glove, in some you can’t even get your toes into them without feeling like you’ve been crippled! The best advice would be to go and try on every time, never, ever just buy straight from the rack or you’ll be walking straight back into the shop to return the goods!

Anna Friel

anna-friel-pic-splashnews-com-image-2-951454982My favourite style icon so far into 2010 has to be the ever so beautiful Anna Friel. Since taking the roll of Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffanny’s her clothes and style has been utterly breath taking!

There is nothing i can fault about Anna’s style at the moment and i love the way she completes how look with her trademark red lipstick and nail varnish.

She looks just as stunning as the style icon herself Audrey Hepburn. There is many looks she has took on recently and rocked everyone.

My favourite so far has to be the clack and white striped dress with biker books, very good look!

Keep up the good work Anna…

Graphic T-Shirts

One trend that seems to be on trend all year round is graphic t-shirts! What i love about graphic t-shirts is that you can either dress them down with pumps and a baggy cardigan or you make them look ultra glamorous with a pair of skinny jeans and killer heals.

I have seen loads of celebrities wearing them recently when i have been flicking through the magazines and my favourite so far has to be Beyonce.

Most shops are now selling graphic print tops but Truffle Shuffle is probably the best and i recently bought a cool one from French Connection with Blonde on it!

Playsuits

If you want to look cute and sexy, you can’t go far wrong with a playsuit. Playsuits are the hot item for 2009 and all the celebs have been snapped wearing them, with designers have been churning them out in their droves. The best thing about the playsuit is that it is so versatile and easy to wear. They can be cute and fun or sexy and vampish. There really are so many to choose from that you can create so many on-trend looks with them.

If it’s a fresh cute look you want, a floral print playsuit is a must have. Florals are big news this spring and a floral playsuit will give you that little bit of edge over the other styles. If you’re brave opt for a short playsuit which is either strapless or has a single strap. This will give you a cutesy hippy chick look which will be irresistible in the spring sunshine.

If you want something more daring and sexy, why not opt for a PVC playsuit teamed with silver jewellery and killer heels for a seductive nigh time look. The sailor look is also big and you can’t beat a sexy sailor playsuit to get that special guy’s heart racing and drive him wild.

Amy Adams and the LBD

Amy Adams is probably best known for playing the princess in popular Disney film ‘Enchanted’. She is living proof that even in the dizzy heights of Hollywood, less can most definitely be more. She is not showy in her style like many other Hollywood actresses seem to be, probably rightly so, but she proves that you can still look good even if you do not have the time or the inclination to go completely over the top with your outfit.

After all, what could be better than a simple little black dress for a night out? The simple flattering and familiar shape of your favourite LBD is instantly comforting and stops you feeling self conscious. It also makes you look amazing. Amy likes to inject a hint of something more into her plainer dress, often by wearing a flash of colour on her shoes . She often doesn’t wear any jewellery for an uncomplicated fuss-free but still perfect look.

How To Throw A Fabulous Fifties Party

The fifties were a time of great change. Rock ‘n’ Roll brought about a revolution in style, music and culture. The teenager was born and everyone was rocking. If poodles skirts, polka dots and jukeboxes are your thing, a fifties themed party could be perfect for your special occasion. Whether it be a birthday party, wedding or engagement; a fifties themed party is sure to impress.

The most important aspect of throwing a successful fifties party is surely the decoration. Aim to decorate your venue in the style of a fifties sock hop or prom. Think about the dance in Grease or the diner in Happy Days if you need inspiration. If you have access to a jukebox, this would be a great asset. Buy Cadillac shaped balloons, Elvis cut-outs, or cardboard records for a funky look.

Invitations are a great way of getting across the theme and style you are hoping for. Decorate invitations with fifties images such as vinyl records, jukeboxes, soda fountains and classic vintage cars to really get your guests in the mood.

You will probably want to provide food for your guests and fifties inspired food is very easy to make. Serve American style hamburgers and hotdogs with cherry sodas and root beer floats or apple pie for a fifties diner feel.

Music is an important part of creating a fifties atmosphere. Try finding a DJ who plays fifties music or you could even rent a jukebox for the occasion. If you want a live band, there are lots of groups who play fifties music. Some of them even impersonate fifties stars.

Finally, you will want to look the part. You can’t go wrong with a polka dot prom dress, puffball skirt or Capri pants. For the guys, tight blue jeans and leather jacket are a must have!

Kristen Stewart – New Style Icon

She may be starring as the girl next door in the hugely popular vampire romance movies in the ‘Twilight’ series, but her own personal style is anything but. Her wild flowing hair and couldn’t give a damn expression along with her pale complexion make her one of the most intriguing and edgy young actresses to have entered Hollywood in recent years. Kirsten is never afraid to be different and fully embraces the rock chick look. This is probably one of the reasons she has been cast to play wild child rocker Joan Jett in an upcoming movie.

When she attended the ‘Twilight’ premiere in Paris a few months ago, all eyes were on her. She did not go down the traditional red carpet route of a long ball elegant gown and perfect hair. Instead she opted for a short strapless monochrome dress; the stripes perfectly complementing her figure and making it appear fuller. Her hair was wild and unkempt, giving her a stunningly sexy edge, and her black heels perfectly complemented the outfit. It is clear that she is an actress who we will be seeing much more of in the future, and her excellent fashion sense will be the envy of many as she attends more and more prominent events.

Celebrity Fashion Trend: Graphic Print Tee

T-shirts are a staple of most wardrobes as they are probably the most versatile item of clothing we can own. Whether we are doing housework, lazing in the park or even on a girls night out, t-shirts can be just what we need. They are also very comfortable and can be styled in so many ways and different trends that they are a wardrobe must have.

One of the biggest T-shirt fashion trends to emerge this year is the graphic print t-shirt. These come in many forms from leopard print to beautiful women printed on a bold background. Both Beyonce and The Hills star Audrina Partridge have been spotted wearing the same vintage Prince graphic t-shirt made by Chaser on nights out. They both styled them differently and provide a great example of the versatility of the graphic tee.

Beyonce styled her prince tee with skinny jeans, strappy sandals and cool leather jacket for a rock chick casual look. Whereas, Audrina opted to wear the tee with a high waisted pencil skirt, belt and high heels for a clubbing look. We think everyone should own at least one printed tee this year.

Jourdan Dunn – The New Face of Fashion

Move over Kate and Aggy because there’s a new girl in town, and she’s wowing the fashion world with her stunning looks and perfect style. Jourdan Dunn was voted model of the year in 2008 and is on course for bigger things if only she can break into the bigger fashion markets, which we don’t doubt she can. Over the last few months, Jourdan has been signed up to many high profile events and has appeared in a string of catwalk shows, including events at London Fashion Week.

Jourdan is a stunning leggy blonde with fresh clean looks, putting her in sharp contrast with the likes of Kate and Agyness Deyn who are known for their more rough and ready edgy looks. Jourdan seems to prefer to play it safe and sticks to the more comfortable and classically stylish end of the fashion market. Some people in the industry see this as a problem. They believe that she will never make it as big as say, Kate Moss, because she does not have the same charismatic appeal and simply does not stand out from the crowd like Agynes Deyne manages to do with her punk haircut and outspoken lifestyle.

However, most believe it is high time there was some more class in the modelling industry and they believe Jourdan is just the person to bring it back and make it a big success.

How to Throw A Celebrity Style Wedding Reception

Do you look through glossy magazines and wish your wedding day could be like the stars’ featured within? Throwing a memorable wedding reception is every girl’s dream. Something that will look good on photos and have people talking for years to come is the dream situation when planning your wedding reception. A celebrity wedding reception may be more achievable than you think, and a great evening can be achieved on a relatively small budget.

The most important stage in throwing a celebrity style wedding reception is undoubtedly the organisation. Get together with your friends and have a good look through the glossies to find ideas you think would suit your wedding. Make a list of everything from venues to outfits, food, drink, decoration and entertainment.

Once you have a plan, get your friends and family to help out. Want a throne like Posh and Becks? Work out who you know who’s good at making things and ask them to help. Get your family involved in personalising favours and making decorations. Ask around for friends of friends who can play at your wedding. They may do you a discount.

When throwing a celebrity style wedding reception, you can be outrageous. Get all your friends to wear their favourite glamorous outfits, have waiters serving over the top cocktails, be demanding, but, most of all, have fun!
