Pay for clothes and alterations with bingo cash
Shopping is a great pastime that we all love to do. Whether we just fancy a bit of retail therapy or we’re well into the latest trends, we all love to get down to the high street to put together new outfits. However, it’s sometimes the case that our favourite outlets are tricky when it comes to sizing.
If your favourite shops sell clothes that you love but the sizes are often a little out in terms of your own measurements, the last thing you want to do is shun the places altogether. What you often do is buy things that aren’t quite right and then get them altered. However, this automatically adds to the cost of your shopping trip.
If you simply can’t break free of this cycle of buying new clothes and getting them immediately altered, then you’ll need a bit of extra cash to help you cope with the cost. Online bingo is a good idea in this respect, because it is a fun way of earning extra cash to spend on the high street. If you play Mecca Bingo online you could win a tidy sum to put towards new outfits and the added cost of alterations.
Ellesmere Port bride named Slimmer of the Year after dropping nine dress sizes
A bride-to-be from Ellesmere Port has been named the Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness Magazine Bride Slimmer of the Year 2011 after dropping nine dress sizes just in time for her wedding day.
Laura Powell, 27, managed to get her weight down from 23st 7lb to 12st 7lb in just 18 months, meaning that she went from a size 28 to a super-slender size 10 in less than two years. This enabled Laura, who is 6ft tall, to fit into the perfect wedding dress she had always dreamed of.
Laura was presented with her award by Rosemary Conley herself at a London ceremony earlier this month.
Kate Middleton claims she wants to gain dress size ahead of royal wedding
The Daily Mail has ran a story recently on bride-to-be Kate Middleton, in which it is claimed that she wants to move up a dress size or two before the big day.
The 29-year-old has been photographed looking very slender recently, believed to be mostly due to Middleton’s reported dedication to her exercise regime.
A palace source quoted in the Mail has said that Prince William’s size six fiancée has now said that she wants to gain weight and move up a dress size so that she can fill out her wedding gown, which is reportedly in a “womanly” design.
£3.5 billion worth of January sale ‘bargains’ are the wrong size, according to poll
The results of a recent poll undertaken by weight management brand Shape Smart suggest that the average UK shopper spends £71 in the January sales on clothes that are too small for them. This equates to a national total of £3.5 billion wasted on ‘bargains’ that never get worn.
The results of the survey also revealed that 27 per cent of those asked admitted regularly buying clothing in a size too small for them, in what are being called ‘vanity’ or ‘aspirational’ purchases. A further 12 per cent confessed to only shopping in stores in which dress sizes are warped (i.e. bigger than they should be) to flatter the customer.

Size 9? size 11? size 13?
It’s very frustrating when you go shopping and there is this one item you fall in love with but unfortunately you are not a size 10 and you are not a size 12. You seem to be a size 11 and no-where out there can you get the one thing you want in a size 11!! Rubbish. The best thing to do if you really do fall in love with something is to make a decision, are you going to lose a little weight in the near future and is it stretchy enough if you don’t? Or is it just that little bit loose and will you be able to carefully style it up with a belt or some accessories so it looks right? There’s nothing worse than a too-tight dress so I would always go with the bigger option if you simply have to have it and soon, or if it is a real bargain and you know it’s going to stand the test of time buy the smaller one, you’ll get into it someday I’m sure!
Re-heel your shoes!
When you move house, it is important to register with doctors, dentist, and opticians, and also to find out where the local curry house and chip shop is. You also need to find out where the local shoe repair place is! Seriously, I have now got to a stage where all my party shoes are in desperate need of re-heeling (there are about ten pairs that need doing) and I have nothing to wear. Do not ever think of wearing heels that need fixing, seriously, you will ruin them and have to throw them away. It is awful when you kill your own shoes because you don’t give them the love and repair they deserve.
Properly fitted underwear
There is nothing that spoils a lovely outfit more than badly fitting underwear. Honestly, there are so many people that wear lovely dresses but have a really obvious Visible Panty Lines (VPL’s!) or bras that show too much or are too big and wrinkle under their tops! Seriously ladies, get down to Marks and Spencer of your local independent underwear shop and get measured for some properly fitter underwear. If you can’t afford to buy it from those shops, get the measurements and go to a local high-street shop and try on loads of their bra’s until you find one that fits like the ones you were measured for! Knickers are bad too. You can get those pants that have ruffles on the back but if you‘re wearing a slinky dress, ruffles are not sexy. Pop on a thong or some big smooth pants and you’re good to go!
McQueen
Since the death of Lee Alexander McQueen earlier this week, it seems everyone has cracked out their McQueen clothes and is wearing them as memorials to the great man himself. All over Facebook last night people were joining the groups RIP Alexander McQueen etc and going on about how they are digging out their boots, clothes and accessories. The amount of scull scarves I have seen over the past couple of days in Manchester and in the news is simply baffling. It just goes to show, even when something tragic happens, it’s always good for the press, which promotes awareness of brand and which encourages people to attend to the fashion element and wear the relevant garments. I bet their sales will shoot up and there will be no McQueen garments for a reasonable price on Ebay!
